As I welcome the first day of winter here in Canberra, I am excited to welcome my new book – Wild Sea: A History of the Southern Ocean.
The cover design is amazing (a big thanks to Peter Long), and the book as a whole has been nurtured to fruition by the wonderful and enthusiastic team at NewSouth Publishing.
The stories within Wild Sea have emerged from my research and writings over the last few years, enriched by my personal experiences and fired by a growing passion for this remote and mysterious ocean at the southernmost end of the world.
For anyone interested in hearing about the book or buying a copy, I have a number of events planned over the next couple of months, including:
- A Hobart launch by Senator Peter Whish-Wilson on Thursday 7 June, 5.30-7.00 pm at Fullers Bookshop, 131 Collins Street, Hobart
- An author talk on Saturday 9 June, 2.00-3.00 pm at the State Library of New South Wales, Sydney
- An author talk on Saturday 30 June, 4.00-5.00 pm at the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum, Jervis Bay
- A Canberra launch by author, actor and broadcaster, Michael Veitch, at the Canberra Writers’ Festival on the weekend of 25-26 August (date and time to be advised).
There will also be a book event in Melbourne sometime soon, and possibly one in Perth, so stay tuned!
